Founder and Chair of Accretive Health

Mary Tolan is the founder and chair of Accretive Health, a leading provider of comprehensive end-to-end health care revenue-cycle management services and population health management services infrastructure. Tolan leads a team of seasoned industry professionals focused on revolutionizing patient access and revenue-cycle processes for health-care providers.

Accretive Health offers health care providers a full-accountability managed service to close significant financial leakage, accelerate cash collections and balance sheet strength, and improve labor productivity and processing costs. Accretive also provides the infrastructure for health care providers to take total population health accountability to improve quality outcomes while reducing total cost of care. The company focuses on improving the financial strength of health care providers to support their excellence in health care delivery.

Previously, Tolan was a leading partner at Accenture, the $16 billion global management consulting, technology services, and outsourcing company. She was the group chief executive of a $2.3 billion global operating group. In that role, Tolan led a team of 11,000 professionals, and her team worked with more than 70 percent of the global Fortune 500 companies in those industries. Tolan also played a leadership role in taking Accenture public in 2001, one of that year's largest offerings on the New York Stock Exchange.

Tolan serves on the Council for the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago and is on the boards of trustees for the University of Chicago and Loyola University, as well as the board of the Lyric Opera.

Tolan received a bachelor of business administration degree from Loyola University and a master of business administration from the University of Chicago.
