Joyce Winnecke, '05 (XP-74)

Vice President and Associate Editor at the Chicago Tribune

As vice president and associate editor at the Chicago Tribune, Winnecke leads a product developmental team, serving as chief liaison between the newsroom and the advertising and marketing groups. She works on new business ideas for media and journalism, directing strategic initiatives to increase audience and profitability through innovation, organizational design, and content development across all platforms.

She joined the Tribune in 2002 as associate managing editor for national news. Since assuming her current role in 2008, Winnecke and her team have launched Trib Nation, a reader engagement program featuring a robust menu of live journalism events; Printers Row, a membership program that includes a weekly literary journal, original fiction, and author talks; and Media on Demand, a multiplatform content production system.

Winnecke previously worked at the Chicago Sun-Times, starting as deputy metro editor and rising quickly to managing editor.

She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Indiana in 1982 and an MBA from Chicago Booth's Executive MBA Program North America in 2005.
