Starting today, students in their final year of study at any undergraduate institution can apply to our Chicago Booth Scholars deferred admission program. The program allows candidates the opportunity to apply before they graduate from college, defer and gain professional experience for two to four years, and then join Chicago Booth for their MBA.

Flexibility is one of the major differentiators of Booth’s MBA program. In that vein, Chicago Booth Scholars have a breadth of options in shaping their MBA journey and how they want to pursue a Booth degree.

  • In terms of the timing of their deferment, students can decide to work two, three, or four years before leaving the workforce to enroll at Booth.
  • What’s more, as a new element of our deferred admission expansion, if students wish to continue working instead of pursuing school full-time, there is also an opportunity to choose Booth’s Evening MBA or Weekend MBA Program.

Chicago Booth has been at the forefront of business education and research for over 100 years. We also have a legacy of commitment to the undergraduate population. In fact, the business school began as part of the undergraduate institution back in 1898. Other programs throughout the decades have invited qualified University of Chicago students for early admission to Booth’s MBA. However, this is the first time students outside of the UChicago community are eligible to apply to our deferral program.

MBA deferment programs encourage students to begin the admissions process before they leave undergrad and enter the busy working world. Aspects such as taking the GMAT/GRE test while studies are top-of-mind can be a big benefit. It also creates an environment that can help young professionals find their path.

“As a Booth Scholar, you begin your early career with an amazing network of support and experience from a top business school,” said Jordan Dexter, ’16, an English major who was an analyst for Target during her deferment period, then went to BCG after graduating from Booth, and is now Manager of Global Pricing Strategy & Analytics at Estée Lauder. “I was able to pursue my professional interests after undergrad, knowing I could start at Booth when I was ready to build on those experiences and accelerate my career ambitions.”

Throughout the two to four year deferment period, Booth Scholars  are part of the larger Booth community with access to events, quarterly meetups, and connections to Booth Scholars alumni and current students.

The application is now open and the deadline to apply is April 4, 2019. A GMAT or GRE score is required and the $250 application fee is waived for all Chicago Booth Scholar applications. Apply today »
