The Alumni and External Relations Committee identified ways in which the school can
strengthen engagement and renew connections among alumni.
In the spring of 2013, Chicago Booth hosted the first annual RECONNECT, an event that
combined reunion, Alumni Celebration, and Management Conference into one action-packed
weekend. This new format, designed to meet the needs of our diverse alumni community,
drew over 1,800 alumni, guests, and students.
The school continues to create more ways for alumni to connect back to the school and with
each other. This year, 1,059 events worldwide attracted a combined alumni attendance of over
25,000. At the end of the fiscal year, Booth hired a new executive director of alumni relations
to keep the momentum strong.
The Annual Fund indicates promising signs: last fiscal year, the Annual Fund set a record
of $5,958,272 raised, and that trend continued this year, with an increase in participation from
16.8 to 18.6 percent. Though we still lag behind our peer schools in this regard, movement is
in the right direction. Our alumni are key to the future. We will continue our ambitious goals to
move the school forward, with thanks to the help of our strong alumni community.
