Much has been written about the continuing rush for multinationals to invest in China. How prepared are these companies and the international expatriate managers who staff them to face the unique human resource challenges of this complex and at times highly ambiguous market? The speakers will cover topics such as talent supply and recruitment, problems of staff retention, training and development and discuss some of the particular skills required to be an effective expatriate people manager in China, using examples from their own experience.

Deborah Lauer, who most recently was VP Global Talent Supply during her 20 year career at Motorola, worked in Asia Pacific for seven years, of which six years were in China. Deb is experienced in change management, OD and staffing, and holds a PhD in Industrial /Organizational Psychology from the University of Tennessee.

Jeffrey Reed, an international business consultant and cross cultural executive coach, has 25 years of general management and marketing experience in Asia Pacific. His extensive experience includes heading up joint ventures for Unilever-Bestfoods in Pakistan for four years and in Beijing, China for six years. He has a BA in Modern Languages from the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.
