Event Details
In the Northeast Asian political economy, North Korea's relations with its neighbors have been problematic. While South Korea and China have modernized and prospered, North Korea remains mired in diplomatic isolation and economic deprivation. Deeply suspicious of the outside world, North Korea remains an enigma, particularly in the context of the current multilateral talks on the future of North Korea's nuclear program. Bruce Cumings is an expert on the political economy of Northeast Asia and will draw upon his studies of the industrialization of the region to help us understand the issues and what's at stake.
