Registration Requirements

Non-U.S. Citizens must complete and submit an application by 11/17/06 with a copy of your passport and INS documentation.

When arriving for the tour, U.S. citizens must present a photo ID and non-U.S. citizens must bring original passport, original visa and/or I-94 or I-94W (Departure Record)

Students must present a valid student ID.

Steve Ban, Ph.D.
Director, Technology Transfer
Argonne National Laboratory

Stephen Ban is the Director of the Technology Transfer Division at Argonne National Laboratory, a major Department of Energy center of science and engineering research providing pioneering solutions to critical energy, environmental, and security problems.  Dr. Ban is responsible for leadership of Argonne efforts in licensing, technology exchange with industry, cooperative commercialization programs, and identification/launch of new ventures and start-ups.

Prior to joining Argonne, Dr. Ban was the President of the Gas Research Institute (GRI), the gas industry’s major cooperative research program in developing advanced natural gas technologies, and commercialization programs with industry, government, and academic partners.  Emphasis was on reducing the cost of finding and producing natural gas and developing new utilization technologies with increased value to gas users.

Before joining GRI, Dr. Ban led industrial research programs at the Bituminous Materials Company in Terre Haute, Indiana, and Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio.

Dr. Ban is currently a member of the Board of Directors of UGI Corporation, an energy marketer and distributor, and a member of the Board of Directors of Energen Corporation, a natural gas producer and distributor.  He is also on the Board of Advisors of the Illinois Technology Enterprise Center (Argonne).

Dr. Ban holds degrees in engineering and engineering science from the Rose Hulman Institute of Technology and the Case Western Reserve University.  He is a registered Professional Engineer in the states of Indiana and Ohio.
