Event Details:
Recurring kidney stones affect some 5% of the population. They
are not only very painful but can lead to recurrent hospital visits and
surgery. Using research developed by his father, a professor at the University
of Chicago Medical School, Brian Coe has built a company, LithoLink Corporation,
that uses testing and disease management techniques that have been shown
to reduce kidney stone risk by up to 80%. LithoLink performs the specialized
tests needed to determine the cause of a patient's kidney stones. LithoLink
also provides services to support physicians in managing the patient's
condition in order to reduce or eliminate the recurrence of kidney stones.
LithoLink delivers its services through a combination of physician education,
laboratory testing and interpretive software. Physicians across the country
are using LithoLink including doctors in such leading medical institutions
as Harvard, New York University and the University of California at San
Francisco. Brian Coe was one of the featured speakers at January's seminar
on BioTech Start-Up's that was co-sponsored by the GSB Entrepreneurial
Roundtable. Come to hear how a non-physician with an entrepreneurial
drive can take basic medical research and transform it into a profitable,
growing business that is used by more and more physicians across the
country. This is the practical approach to biotech.
