The Consulting Roundtable is kicking off a series of meetings on 'Consulting as a Career' and is pleased to host David B. Benjamin as our first speaker. Charter Consulting was founded by David Benjamin in 1997. Mr. Benjamin, Charter Consulting CEO and a GSB alumnus, will present the growth story of his firm, a professional services organization with a top-notch line of consultants and offices nationwide.

Event Description:

Launching our Consulting Career Series, David Benjamin, CEO of Charter Consulting, will share his insights on how he became a consultant, the steps in his own career path, and the inception and development of Charter Consulting. Headquartered in Chicago, Charter Consulting offers customer value creation and operational excellence services to its clients, helping them to grow profitably by aligning and optimizing customer facing processes. A young firm of seven years, it continues to grow at a healthy clip with a presence in four cities nationwide. What was his business model? How did he build the firm? What drives the firm’s growth? What is his outlook on the consulting industry? These are just some of the questions Mr. Benjamin will address in the first in a series of meetings on “Consulting as a Career”.

Speaker Profiles:

David B. Benjamin David B. Benjamin is Chair of Charter Consulting’s Executive Committee and Practice Managing Partner of the insurance practice. He founded Charter Consulting in 1997 with a distinct focus on helping companies improve their business performance and achieve operational excellence. Mr. Benjamin brings over 15 years of management consulting experience to Charter. He is responsible for strategy and finance, and leads client and practice development areas in addition to his on-going client work. Mr. Benjamin has extensive hands-on experience in operational strategy, business process improvement, organizational design, and information technology alignment. He has served clients in a variety of industries, including financial services, telecommunications, automotive, e-commerce, transportation, and consumer products. Prior to founding Charter Consulting, Mr. Benjamin was a partner at Bricker & Associates. Prior to that, he was a partner in Ernst & Young's Great Lakes Management Group, an engagement manager at McKinsey & Co., and a manager with Andersen Consulting. He holds a B.A. in mathematics and economics from Grinnell College and an M.B.A in finance and marketing from the University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business. He serves on the national Board of Directors for Public Allies, a non-profit youth leadership and community development organization, and as an elected Governor for the Tavern Club, a private Chicago social club.
