American Bar Association Christopher Gloede, '98, has joined as chief marketing officer. The law association is headquartered in Chicago.
Aon Cheryl Francis, '78, and Judson Green, '76, have been elected to the board of directors. An insurance and management consulting firm, Aon is headquartered in Chicago. Francis is an independent business and financial advisor and co-chairman of the nonprofit Corporate Leadership Center. Green is vice chairman and former president and CEO of Navteq Corp.
ARRIS Ming Wu, '06 (AXP-5), has been named vice president, business development, for the Chinese marketplace. Headquartered in Suwanee, Georgia, the communications technology company specializes in broadband network design and engineering.
Archer Daniels Midland Company Ray Young, '86, has joined as senior vice president and CFO. The food, feed, fuel, and chemical company is headquartered in Decatur, Illinois.
CAPCO Tile and Stone Rod Salyer, '99, has joined as vice president of sales and marketing. Headquartered in Denver, Colorado, the company imports and distributes ceramic tile, stone tile, and stone slab.
Duff & Phelps Bob Bartell, '98, has been promoted to head of the Chicago office. He is managing director in the investment banking unit and co-head of the transaction opinions group. The financial advisory and investment banking firm is headquartered in New York.
The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. Kathryn Mikells, '94, has been named a member of the board of directors. The insurance and wealth management company is based in Hartford, Connecticut. Mikells is executive vice president and CFO of Nalco.

Hewitt EnnisKnupp Karen Rode, '96, has joined as head of the global private equity group. Headquartered in Chicago, the private equity firm is an Aon Hewitt company.
ION Geophysical Corporation Michael Jennings, '92, has been named a member of the board of directors. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, the company provides geophysical technology to the oil and gas industries. Jennings is president, CEO, and chairman of Frontier Oil Corporation.
Man Group Emmanuel Roman, '87, has been named to the newly created role of chief operating officer. The London-based alternative investment company manages hedge funds.

Swiss Re Alex Viergutz, '06, has joined as vice president, principal investments group, in the global reinsurer's Zurich, Switzerland, headquarters.
Sarasota County Hospital Board Robert Strasser, '68 (XP-24), has been re-elected to a fifth term as a board member. Based in Sarasota, Florida, the board does business as the Sarasota Memorial Health Care System.
United American Healthcare Corporation Robert Sullivan, AM '77, MBA '86, has been named CFO and treasurer. The medical device manufacturer is moving its headquarters from Detroit, Michigan, to Chicago.
World Cocoa Foundation Anne Alonzo, AB '80, MBA '00 (XP-69), has been named chair. Based in Washington DC, the foundation supports cocoa farmers. Alonzo is vice president, global public policy, at Kraft Foods.
Washington Trust Leigh Weiss, '81, has been named managing director and investment advisor. The wealth management company is headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware.

The New York Times profiled Vets Prevail, the counseling website that lets war veterans get free online help to manage combat stress and depression symptoms, on October 21. The site was founded by Roger Sweis, '09, president of Prevail Health Solutions, and Richard Gengler, '09, a former Navy fighter pilot, when they were students at Chicago Booth. Sweis had intended that the program eventually would turn into a government-financed tool, he told the Times. Through Vets Prevail, vets can get lessons and assignments on coping strategies and can contact peer counselors. Offline they can receive encouraging text messages, email, and phone calls, the article said.
In her former career Julie Liu, '04, managed a hedge fund. Today she designs jewelry that adorns the necks and ears of television and movie stars. Such actresses as Viola Davis and Kelly Rutherford wear jewelry from her line called TZEN, said an October 5 General News US article. The company was awarded a Rising Star Award on September 16 by Fashion Group International. "I was shaking with joy when they announced TZEN and felt incredible honor to be given the award from such a prestigious organization," Liu said.
A company needs to have an integrated social media strategy in place before a public relations crisis strikes. The steps toward building such a communication framework were discussed in a Webinar October 27 in which Doug Wick, '05, was a panelist, according to a notification on Powered.com. Wick, who is director of business development at Powered, "works to evangelize social marketing to marketers both on the corporate side and within their strategic marketing services partners."
