Event Details
An enduring feature of American – Cuban relations has been Fidel Castro. Now that brother Raul is in charge, have US and Cuban relations improved or deteriorated? What might happen with a new US administration in 2009? Gary Marx was based in Cuba for the Tribune from 2002 until his media credentials were not renewed and he departed in June 2008. The Cuban government in recent years has grown increasingly sensitive about how the international media portrays the island. It is especially touchy about reports distributed in the US and their possible impact on US public opinion amid efforts by the US government to tighten more than four decades of travel and trade restrictions. Plan now to attend this historic presentation by an accomplished, veteran journalist who has given incisive and insightful coverage from Cuba.
