Event Details

The award, presented by the University of Chicago Alumni Association, recognizes Pat's service to the community, including his company's role in revitalizing a neighborhood and the city.  His support of the local food movement, many nonprofit organizations, also includes his company founding of the Burning River Fest and Foundation. The fest, which takes place July 26–27 at the historic Coast Guard Station off Whiskey Island, has raised close to $350,000, which has been given back to various groups working in the area of water quality and sustainability.

As co-owners, he and his brother are committed to operating the company with a "triple bottom line" philosophy that emphasizes the importance of social, environmental, and financial responsibility. His commitment to sustainable practices, coupled with his company's award-winning and diverse family of beers, has made Great Lakes Brewing a beloved brand in Northeast Ohio and throughout the Great Lakes region.
