The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act ("ACA") is one of the most significant pieces of legislation related to healthcare in American history, along with Medicare and Medicaid and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). Employer sponsored healthcare was originally a response to wage freezes after World War II. How will the ACA impact employers after the Act is fully implemented? Will employers change their hiring strategies? Will they drop coverage altogether? Will small businesses choose not to expand or choose to hire more part-time employees? (Also consider, will we shift away from an employer-sponsored healthcare system?) Do "control group" rules apply to employers if they choose to start related entities to try to avoid crossing certain thresholds? How will companies that self-insure be affected? Join us for what should be an interesting and lively discussion among your peers.
