Speaker Profiles

Larry Seruma (Panelist)
CIO and Managing Principal, Nile Capital Management

Mr. Seruma is the CIO of Nile Capital Management, which he founding in 2004. The firm manages long only and long/short investments for both institutions and retail investors. He has more than 19 years of experience in portfolio management, equity and derivatives trading, investment research and quantitative investment strategies. Prior to Nile, he served as an MD at Proxima Alfa Investments. Also, he was a Principal at Barclays, where he worked in the Active Strategies Group and was also a member of BGI’s Investment Process Committee. Mr. Seruma serves on the Board for All For Africa, a non-profit organization that focuses on providing sustainable funding to charities and community based programs in Africa. He holds an MBA from Chicago Booth.

Ravi Bhagavan (Panelist)
Partner, Galileo Global Advisors

Ravi helps MNC's in emerging markets, achieve global strategies through M&A, JV's and private equity financings. He leads Galileo’s transactions in the technology, telecom and hospitality sectors, leveraging over 12 years of experience and a vast global network of relationships. He previously founded a fiber-to-the-home services business, did M&A for Zephyr Communications, and worked at Goldman Sachs, where he executed over $2 billion of capital markets transactions. Ravi holds a Bachelor of Tech from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), a Masters in Industrial Engineering from SUNY at Buffalo, and a MBA from Chicago Booth.

Rahul Sharma (Panelist)
Portfolio Manager, Schafer Cullen Capital

Mr. Sharma started his investment career at Schafer Cullen and has 9 years of investment experience. As a portfolio manager, Rahul focuses on global , international and emerging market investment strategies across all market capitalizations. In 1994, he received his B.A. in mathematics from the College of William and Mary.

Gilbert Ong, CFA, (Panelist)
Quantitative Analyst, Platinum Partners

Mr Ong has worked in New York, Hong Kong and Singapore over the last8 years. He specializes in structured credit products and fundamental and quantitative equities, and previously worked in Salomon Smith Barney, Fitch Ratings, UOB, OCBC and CIBC World Markets. As a Quantitative Analyst at Platinum, he is focused on evaluating trade ideas across all asset classes.

Peter Ng (Panelist)
Director, Standard Chartered Bank

Mr Ng graduated with an MBA from Chicago Booth in 2003. He attended York University in Toronto for his undergraduate education. Mr. Ng has worked in Institutional Sales in FX & Rates for over 16 Years with Standard Chartered Bank. He worked in Hong Kong and Singapore for over 10 years and has been in NYC the last 6. He specializes in exotic Emerging Market currency trading.

George Bumeder (Panelist)
Managing Director, XL Capital Investment Partners Inc.

George Bumeder, Managing Director, XL Capital Investment Partners Inc. Mr Bumeder works on strategic partnership transactions at XL with boutique asset management firms, in addition to sourcing and investing in global hedge funds and private equity funds. Prior to joining XL, he worked for an equity capital markets information startup, where he led the development of products targeting major institutional investors. Also, he had spent several years as a management consultant in the financial services practice of Booz Allen & Hamilton. Prior to this, he performed investment and risk analysis at JP Morgan Investment Management. He received a BSE in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University and an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
