One of the Chicago Booth Alumni Club's greatest advantages lies in our ability to leverage the presence of non local business leaders visiting Singapore. Such is the case with our guest next Tuesday Mr. Jean Louis Billon, Chairman of SIFCA and of Cote d’Ivoire Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Mr. Billon has an extensive experience of starting and managing business in West Africa. Palm oil, natural rubber and sugar are the three commodities sectors in which the Group SIFCA is involved in Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Benin, Liberia and Nigeria. The SIFCA Group employs 17 000 men and women. Beyond its traditional collaboration with Europe, the Group is opening up to South-South cooperation with countries such as India, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia. A number of subsidiaries are listed on the Stock Exchanges of Abidjan and Paris. For those of us interested in eventually exploring new opportunities where high returns follow a good understanding of risks, his story and perspectives must be heard.

Mr. Jean Louis Billon (Speaker)

Born in December 1964, Jean-Louis Billon is the Chairman of the SIFCA Group since 2000. In 2001, he became the mayor of the commune of Dabakala and in 2002 the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Côte d'Ivoire. He is a member of the Economic and Social Council and of several other professional organisations including the Federation of Industries and Services of Côte d'Ivoire and the National Council of Employers. In 2008 Jean-Louis Billon was awarded the Legion of Honour of the French Republic. In 2009 he became the Chairman of the Board of Directors of UBA bank. After a Master's degree in Business Law at the Université de Montpellier, he obtained a Master's in Management in the USA where he began his professional career as a Commercial Executive for Grace Cocoa. Back in Cote d'Ivoire in 1995, he joined SIFCA as General Secretary.
