Join the Social Enterprise Initiative at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business to hear from Eric Weinheimer, '94, about the revenue generating social enterprises that many nonprofits are creating to further their missions. Weinheimer is president and CEO of Donors Forum of Illinois, a nonprofit that represents over 1,100 grant makers, nonprofits, and their advisors. At this Social Impact Leadership Series (SILS) event, Weinheimer will introduce examples of successful—and less successful—social enterprises. In particular, Weinheimer will discuss the work of Chicago's Cara Program, a job training and access nonprofit, where he was previously president and CEO. Before and after the SILS talk, attendees are invited to join us for a networking reception with food and drinks.

The Social Enterprise Initiative (SEI) at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business supports the aspirations of students and alumni to impact societal issues and furthers research on how institutions help solve social problems. President and CEO, Donors Forum of Illinois

Eric Weinheimer, '94, is the president and CEO of Donors Forum of Illinois, an alliance of approximately 1,100 foundations, social purpose organizations, and advisors. Prior to his position at the Donors Forum, Weinheimer was president and CEO of The Cara Program, a nonprofit that provides training, job placement and support services to individuals who are homeless and struggling in poverty. Under Weinheimer's leadership, The Cara Program founded and established two leading social enterprises – Cleanslate Chicago and 180 Properties (a joint venture with Mercy Housing Lakefront) – to generate revenue and provide employment opportunities and on-the-job training to individuals who have significant obstacles to employment, including recent incarceration. Weinheimer serves on the advisory board for the Social Enterprise Initiative at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He also serves on the board of directors of the Oak Park River Forest Community Foundation.
