Juan Maria Nin (Speaker)
CEO, La Caixa
Juan Maria Nin has been CEO of La Caixa since June 2007. He was born in Barcelona in 1953. He holds a degree in Law & Economics (Deusto University, Bilbao) and earned a Masters in Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He started his career in the financial industry in the former Banco Hispano Americano, where he became Director of International Affairs. In 1992, when the Banco Central Hispano was constituted, he became General and Regional Manager of Catalonia. Two years later, still at Banco Central Hispano, he became General Manager of the Retail Banking division and a Management Board member. Following the merger with Banco Santander, Juan Maria Nin became General Manager in Retail Banking and later in the division of Corporate Banking. In that role, he also was a Management Board member. Four years later, in 2002, he joined Banco de Sabadell as Managing Director. He has a long career in international retail and corporate banking and experience in managing M&A processes in the banking industry. He has held several positions as Board member in industry and service companies. Moreover, he is a member of the Board of Trustees at Federico García Lorca Foundation, member of the Board of the Deusto University and member of the Board of Trustees of the Spain-US Foundation.
