Whether you're incubating a start-up, looking for backing for your documentary, or seeking a small-business grant, successfully pitching your work and yourself requires vision and clear communication. Come meet local alumni and hear from a distinguished panel of presenters composed of successful self-starters who know what funders look for in a proposal.

Confirmed Panelists

  • Darin Chen, MBA'02: Chen is a co-founder and managing director of Hillcrest Venture Partners, a venture capital firm that focuses on of seed to growth stage technology companies. He has over a dozen years of experience in venture capital and assisted in building several companies to a successful exit.
  • Leigh Janiak, AM'04: Janiak is a filmmaker who abandoned her doctoral studies to pursue film full time. Her first feature film Honeymoon, starring Game of Thrones' Rose Leslie and Penny Dreadful's Harry Treadaway premiered at SXSW this past spring and was released theatrically in September in the US and the UK.
  • Yair Landau, SB'85: Landau is the president and founder of Mass Animation whose work is focused on storytelling and connecting ideas with digital media startups in a virtual animation studio. He brings 17 years of experience with Sony, where he served as former Vice Chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment and President of Sony Pictures Digital.
  • Lucy Wang, MBA'86: Moderator Wang is an award-winning playwright, writer, and performance artist who started her career on Wall Street as a bond trader.
