Event Details
For our inaugural meeting for the roundtable we have fellows from Data Science for Social Good (http://dssg.uchicago.edu). We'll hear about the program and get presentations from three projects (http://dssg.uchicago.edu/projects/). They're asking us to provide feedback on their project approach, presentation/communication and to offer potential commercialization ideas. We currently are expecting the following projects to be presented:
• Chicago Public Schools - Student Enrollment Prediction for Budget Allocation OR Montgomery County Public Schools - Increasing Graduation Rates and Improving College Readiness for High School Students
• Chicago Harris and Sunlight Foundation - Text Analysis of Government Spending Bills to Understand Pork Spending
• Pecan Street and Wiki Energy - Building Open Source Tools to Analyze Smart Meter Data
