Barbara Pause (Speaker)
President, Textile Testing & Innovation LLC

Dr. Barbara Pause has been working in the field of materials research and development for over 20 years. She started out at the Technical University of Leipzig, Germany where she served as a Professor of Materials Science, developing new textile and other materials, advanced technologies, and measuring methods. In 1997, Dr. Pause joined Outlast Technologies, Inc. based in Boulder Colorado, as Vice President of Research & Development where she worked on the field of the Phase Change Material (PCM) Technology. In May 1999, she founded her own company, Textile Testing & Innovation, LLC near Boulder, Colorado. The company specializes in the transfer of cutting-edge technologies, such as PCM technology and shape memory material technology, into textiles and polymers that can be used in various end-use products. Furthermore, the company Textile Testing & Innovation, LLC supports customers worldwide in their efforts to transfer new technologies into their existing product lines.

Dr. Barbara Pause earned her undergraduate and M.S. degrees in physics at the University of Leipzig, Germany, and her Ph.D. degree in engineering science from the University of Wuppertal, Germany.

Dr. Pause holds several patents related to PCM technology as well as thermal and textile testing equipment. She has been an active member of standard working groups for thermal insulation material, protective clothing and textile testing in Europe and the US.
