He will distill his thoughts on both leadership requirements on the front-line and on strategies that he deployed to grow multiple category defining businesses including Taco Bell, Panda Express, Oakley, and today, 5.11 Tactical.
This is an outstanding opportunity for OCMBA members to understand and interact regarding leadership principles, what leadership traits CEOs and Board members look for, and how you can develop successful high growth strategies for your companies.
Tom Davin is the Chief Executive Officer of 5.11 Tactical, based in Irvine. He and his team are transforming the company to become a global performance apparel brand, serving outdoor enthusiasts and professionals. In August 2016, Compass Diversified Holdings purchased 5.11 for $408 million.
The Forum for Corporate Directors has recognized Tom Davin as a 2017 honoree representing the highest qualities exemplified by an active Board member. A graduate of Duke and Harvard Business School, Tom started his business career as investment banker at Goldman Sachs, and subsequently was the COO of Taco Bell. As CEO of Panda Express for 6 years, he doubled the company-owned stores to 1300, deployed $500 million of capital, and grew revenue to $1.25 billion. He has also served on the Board of Directors for Oakley, Zumiez and the Veggie Grill.
His military service includes U.S. Marine Corps officer, US Army Ranger, Special Forces Combat Diver, and operational leadership roles including battalion operations officer. He is still active in military charitable organizations including the Infinite Hero Fund.
The program will be moderated by Hoshi Printer of Stanford and will be followed by Q&A from the audience.
