Event Details
Chicago is a finalist against Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, and Madrid for the rights to host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. The process is entering its most intensive phase, as the official
candidature file has been recently delivered to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and released to the public. The IOC Evaluation Commission will visit our city next month, and intense lobbying and presentation efforts over the summer will culminate with a decision on October 2 in Copenhagen. Who are the decision-makers and what are their chief criteria in deciding among these four proposals? What major challenges and strengths does Chicago bring to the table? What are the domestic impacts of the bid on our city? What happens if Chicago wins?
