Sunil Kumar, Dean
George Pratt Shultz Professor of Operations Management Kumar began his appointment as dean and joined the Booth faculty on January 1, 2011. His research interests include performance evaluation and control of manufacturing systems, service operations, and communications networks. He previously spent 14 years on the faculty of the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, where he also served as senior associate dean, overseeing the school's MBA program and leading faculty groups in marketing and organizational behavior. He received a PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Steven J. Davis, Deputy Dean for Faculty
William H. Abbott Professor of International Business and Economics Davis, who joined the Booth faculty in 1985, is an applied economist with research publications on employment and wage behavior, worker mobility, job loss, and other topics. He is the former editor of the American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics; a research associate with the National Bureau of Economic Research; an economic adviser to the U.S. Congressional Budget Office; and a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

Robert H. Gertner, Deputy Dean for the Part-Time MBA Program
Joel F. Gemunder Professor of Strategy and Finance Gertner has been on the Chicago Booth faculty since 1986. He received a bachelor’s degree summa cum laude in economics from Princeton University and a PhD in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research interests include strategic decision-making, corporate finance, organization structure, theory of the firm, and social enterprises. He teaches courses in strategic decision-making, entrepreneurial strategy, and social entrepreneurship.

Stacey Kole, Deputy Dean for the Full-Time MBA Program
Clinical Professor of Economics Kole joined Chicago Booth in 2004 from the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester where she was associate dean for MBA programs. She earned her master’s and doctoral degrees in economics from the University of Chicago. She teaches a course on managing the workplace.

John C. Heaton, Deputy Dean for Faculty
Joseph L. Gidwitz Professor of Finance Heaton joined the Chicago Booth faculty in 2000. Previously he was the Nathan S. and Mary P. Sharp Distinguished Professor of Finance at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. Originally from Canada, Heaton earned a bachelor's degree in commerce at the University of Windsor in 1982, a master's degree in economics from the University of Western Ontario in 1984, and a PhD in economics from the University of Chicago in 1989. His areas of focus are asset pricing, portfolio allocation, and time-series economics.
